So here she was again: staring at a big cafeteria with no aim of where she was going to sit. She scanned the cafeteria to look for an empty table, but everything seemed a little too packed. She sighed and continued on, watching as the student body stared back at her. She smiled nervously, but mostly kept her face down, staring at her food as she walked.
Eventually, she saw that one table way in the back. No one was on it, which made Catherine quickly scurry to it, at least happy she found a place to sit, lonesome as it was. She didn't even have Matt to speak with. He always got out of class later than she did, and by the time he had lunch, she was in class herself.
Sighing, Catherine sat down and began eating her lunch in a very uncharacteristically quiet manner.

It was time for lunch once again. Gary was not ecstatic about the cafeteria food, but it was the best he could do at the moment. Even if he did have access to a kitchen, he would not have time between classes to cook. For now, this would have to do. He examined the options for today carefully, trying to figure out which was the most edible. He settled for some pasta that looked pretty fresh. He asked for the Alfredo sauce and watched as it was poured over the noodles. Then he took his food and thanked the worker.
After grabbing an apple, cookie, and orange juice, Gary paid for his food and walked into the room. He quickly looked around for a place to sit. Unfortunately, he could not find anyone he knew. He was not keen on eating with a bunch of people he did not know, so he headed for a table where a lone girl sat. "Hello," he said in a friendly tone once he reached the table. "Do you mind if I sit here?" He thought it best to ask since he knew some people, like him, enjoyed being alone.

Catherine’s lunch trance was swiftly interrupted by a voice. Shaking her head as she returned back to reality, Catherine then looked up at Gary, then down at her tray, then back up at Gary. She nodded slowly and moved her bag to the side to make space for his food.
“Sure.” [/b] She murmured. “It’s okay.”[/b] Catherine didn’t make much eye contact with Gary, instead opting to stare at her food for a little bit. Finally coming to the conclusion that this would be the moment she would finally try to make a friend, she tried to make eye contact with him, but failed, her eyes instead darting to the left. Nevertheless, she spoke up anyway. “Hello.”[/b] Her voice trembled. “H-how are you?”[/b] [/blockquote][/size]

Gary picked up his fork and took a bite of his pasta. It was actually not too bad. It would satisfy his hunger. He did not mind the initial silence since he was not one to talk on and on. The girl seemed nervous when she talked to him. He wondered if she was an introvert like him or if she was just sigh. It could be both. Either way, he was willing to be patient with her and try to make her feel comfortable. There was a time where he would have acted differently, but things changed. "I'm good," he said politely. He paused. He had seen her around at least once, but he could not recall her name. "I'm Gary. Gary Oak. What is your name?"
